Livigno, Italy – On a snowy night in the Italian Alps, a superstar was born.
Rising South Korean snowboarder Choi Gaon bounced back from a brutal fall to fly past two-time defending Olympic champion Chloe Kim on Thursday night at Livigno Snow Park and win gold in the women’s halfpipe.
“It feels like I’m in a dream still,” Choi said. “I can’t believe that my first Olympic medal is gold.”
